Card of the Day: 2007 Bowman Sterling Refractors Autograph Joba Chamberlain

The wait is over for Joba Chamberlain.

The Yankees announced today that he will get his first career start next Tuesday at Yankee Stadium. Talk about pressure.

Chamberlain has been slated as the starter of the future for the Yankees ever since he was drafted in 2006. Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy and Chamberlain were supposed to take over the reigns after Andy Pettitte and Mike Mussina became too old to carry the grind.

However, the first two on the prospect list are looking more like Mark Prior and Kerry Wood suffering injuries early in the 2008 season.

The move to the rotation will certainly affect Chamberlain's card. He was already arguably the most popular hobby baseball star of this year, and if he finds success in the rotation, his cards will reach new highs for a starting pitcher.

Already listed as the highest price in 2008 base sets, Chamberlain can reach heights even Derek Jeter couldn't reach in his hobby heydays earlier this decade.

If you haven't already gotten your hands on some Chamberlain cards, it may just be too late. His autos are easily selling for $50+ and even his 2007 base rookies are seeing some action.
