I had heard word of a sixth short print card in 2008 Topps, but hadn't confirmed it was true until just now.
This time around, it is Johan Santana, who had a rare variation in 2008 Topps Heritage as well.
Card #661 in 2008 Topps Series Two looks like a regular old Santana card until you read the small print above his name.
"Santana Tosses Mets 1st No-No"
On the back, apparently the card goes on to explain that the no-hitter will occur on Spetember 28 of this year. Now, if that happens, people will be screaming two things:
1. Topps needs to read my mind
2. Conspiracy
Nevertheless, this card is obviously playing on the fact that the Mets have never had a no-hitter in their 40 years of existence.
There has only been one copy that has surfaced on eBay so far, and it sold for $53.70
